SHANDON was formed in Milan in 1994, and is the ska-punk counterpart to The Magnetics. The band released their 10th studio album, Social Suicide, in 2025 and it features 12 tracks of high energy ska-punk, with comparisons to NOFX and Operation Ivy. The album includes the singles “Liar” and “Mrs. President”, with songs that touch on social issue themes and political commentary, as seen in song lyrics and promotions. Shandon’s lyrics are direct and often emotionally charged, using real-world scenarios to deliver a message. For instance, the track “Mrs. President” was promoted as “a direct letter to an important woman, a politician, a presitent”.
“Social Suicide”: The title track and album’s namesake deals with the performative arguments and “keyboard warriors” prevalent on social media.
“Dynamite”: This track tackles themes of transgender identity and violence, with lyrics highlighting a battle for salvation and dignity.
“St. Pauli Anthem”: The song celebrates unity and standing up for outcasts, referencing the punk-friendly FC St. Pauli football club in Germany.
