Description
La Sonora Brixton debuted in Buenos Aires on November 15, 2002 and played their last show on December 12, 2003. During this very brif period they played a dozen concerts, and recorded the material reissued today! Thirteen months of Reggae, Soul and Ska that today, twenty years later, is still of legend. The central style of the group was early reggae from the late 60s, which at that time was an almost unexplored style. Only a handfull of years later, many 68-69 style reggae bands emerged all across the world! One ingredient that distinguished La Sonora Brixton’s sound was a blue beat soul influence from artists such as Blue Rivers & The Maroons. The recodings here took place between December 2002 and January 2003 at the Tica studios, where at that time numerous bands of Jamaican genres were recording. The original CD, which was intended to be the preview of a more extensive work, was self released in November 2003 in an edition of only 150 units. Barely a month after said launch, they would give their last concert and then disband. Hence, over the years, the CD in question became almost impossible to obtain and could only be purchased at a collector’s price. Una Isla Club Records recovers this recording in the format in which it should have been released from the beginning. Additionally, this anniversary edition features updated cover art and sound, with the addition of a bonus track absent from the original work. Jump Up has secured a very limited amount of these UNA ISLA imports, and with many of the label’s previous releases, the editions are very small and sell out quickly.
