Maddie Ruthless is the queen of New Orleans Rock Steady! A New Orleans based singer, songwriter, performer, and DJ who recently relocated to Brooklyn to join THE FORTHRIGHTS, and on this new 10 track CD she digs deeper into the world of “garage rock steady”, a genre blending 60′s rock and roll girl groups with authentic Jamaican rhythms.
If you have checked out recent releases from HOLLIE COOK you’ll get some of the vibe! “Maddie Ruthless Featuring the Forthrights and Friends” was recorded in the basement of Ticklah’s (aka Victor Axelrod’s of Easy Star All Stars, Daptone Records fame) residence and is a solid representation of this unique Brooklyn style. Songs like “Liar” are straight up 60’s girl group soul, “Sympathy” is more of an early skinhead reggae tune, “Evening Time” is rock steady vocal harmony bliss, “Twist The Knife” and “They Did Not Build This World For You” are both on a rockers tip. Add “Policeman” feat Vic Ruggiero, “Celeste” by THE FORTHRIGHTS, a great version of “Be My Baby” plus a few dubs and you’ve got quite a hot release on SKA IN THE WORLD JAPAN!
7″ is limited to 300 units and features “BE MY BABY” b/w “SYMPATHY”.

Congratulations to you Maddie and the Forthrights, this is a great compilation of sound, love the Jamaican rhythms. Keep up the good work, can’t wait for your next CD to add to my collection.
We like it too! The Maddie orders are all shipping out this week! Chuck
