KING PÉPE & HIS CALYPSO COMBO not only are inspired by the Latin American and Afro-Caribbean music, they revisit it. They take us to distant lands in the middle of the 30s, 40s, and 50s, combining Caribbean rhythms with Latin and New Orleans jazz; it is a journey through time, from Trinidad to Jamaica, the Bahamas, Cuba and Colombia until Brazil, and up through the banks of the Mississippi. It’s the grace and beauty of Calypso and Mento mixed with Goombay, Highlife, Mambo, Son Cubano, Changui, Samba, Cumbia, Merengue, Jazz, Blues, Rhythm & Blues, and Oldies – a tasty musical stew indeed. This hard working French combo is a perfect fit for our “78RPM style 10″ LP calypso series. It has the look and feel of those original Jamaican Mento albums, recorded in 33 rpm (don’t worry!). Antique olive green vinyl. Limited edition on JUMP UP Records. Read the rest of this entry »
SPECIALIZED – A MODERN TAKE ON THE SPECIALS is a fantastic charity album that came our earlier this year in the UK, featuring 30 great artists covering songs made famous by THE SPECIALS – with proceeds going to the TEENAGE CANCER TRUST charity. As someone who recently lost his father to cancer, we immediately contacted the compilation organizer to see if JUMP UP could be a part of this historic compilation. JUMP UP is donating the majority of the pressing to the SPECIALZED people in the UK to help raise more money for this great and noble cause. You should pick up the full length CD at www.specializedcharityalbum.co.uk Read the rest of this entry »
An incredible new band from Germany! The CD version is limited to 333 copies in a hand crafted WOODED BOX! Wow. We only got a handful of these so if you want one ACT NOW! We’ll have LP vinyl down the road we promise, but here’s a special edition for CD collectors!

The NEW 2 track 7″ from THE TOASTERS is here! American ska legends THE TOASTERS (since 1981!) deliver the goods, housed in full color picture sleeve. “HOUSE OF SOUL” is the bands signature sound with bright horns and an uptempo beat, could easily have appeared on their classic 90s albums! The flip “GOING HOME” is a bit more traditional sounding, dare I say THE SKATALITES? Released on the band’s own MEGALITH RECORDS.
FYI: THE VINYL REISSUE OF NEW YORK FEVER will be released on JUMP UP in May! Pre-order will begin soon (with initial copies coming with a free slip mat!).

When GOLDEN SINGLES RECORDS in Spain told us about their CLASH tribute compilation we were one of the first to want in! JUMP UP sent two of our proudest rep’s from the USA to take part in THE CLASH GOES JAMAICAN. As a teaser to the upcoming full length comp we have pressed up 500 7″ singles on colored wax – a split between THE CROMBIES and GREEN ROOM ROCKERS! Tell us which color you want otherwise we will automatically send you RED. Cool? Read the rest of this entry »
When the US postal service increased their rates a couple of months ago we were shocked. So we went into action to see if there was anything we could do to offer better rates of for international customers – and we found away with FIMS – Fed Ex International Mail Service. What they do is fly the packages over on Fed Ex planes and then put the parcels in the destination country’s postal system. We’ve learned that all packages going into Europe are being sorted and mailed from Sweden, similar central points exist in South America and Asia. It takes a little extra time (averaging an extra week in most countries but 2+ extra weeks in Australia)… but it is MUCH cheaper! You can now ship 3 LPs anywhere for $20! CDs and 7″ are lighter so you get more of those for the same $20! Like regular first class airmail through USPS, there is no tracking available – if you must have tracking the only option is to pay the insanse priority mail rates through the USPS. We kinda assume you don’t want to do that.

If you aren’t familiar with Dave’s saxophone playing history, maybe you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of decades? He has been a gigging/touring musician since his teenage years, playing with HEPCAT, RANCID, STUBBORN ALL-STARS, Willie Williams, Stranger Cole, Glen Brown, Glen Adams, Archie Bell, and for the last 18 years, he has been the featured soloist with NYC’s legendary Ska band, THE SLACKERS. ROCKSTEADY 7, a fourteen year old all-star collective, is the band where Dave is able to showcase his unique style of Saxophone playing with extended Jazz improvisations over Reggae-Ska rhythms. We are proud to have the newest ska releases from Poland’s best indie label JIMMY JAZZ RECORDS! JUMP UP has been carrying the label for many years now, heavy on the 2 tone sounds and in our opinion very reminiscent of the late 80′s releases on Unicorn. Read the rest of this entry »
Far too often when a band claims to combine two dissimilar styles of music into an all powerful “new” hybrid, fans get a wee bit skeptical. After all, in most cases these creative endeavors fail miserably – and quite often it involves ska music. Simply put, this stereotype does not apply to the SKABILLY REBELS.
RODDY RADIATION’s band successfully takes the best parts of rockabilly, minus the cheesiness that all too often is associated with the genre, and then puts it to a laid back traditional ska beat. Should we expect anything less? Of course you already know him as the legendary guitarist of The Specials (who also wrote their classics ‘Rat Race’, ‘Concrete Jungle’ & ‘Hey Little Rich Girl’), who also later formed blues influenced acts The Bonediggers and The Tearjerkers. He’s a veteran and true innovator of both the 2-TONE ska movement and the English rockabilly revival scene. Read the rest of this entry »
